Structured Data & Schema Markup

Make your business facts machine-readable.

Structured data is standardised markup, usually Schema.org JSON-LD, that states your business facts in a format machines read without interpretation: who you are, where you operate, what you sell, who wrote a page and what questions it answers. It is the plumbing behind rich results in search and a significant part of how answer engines decide what is true about your business.

What is structured data & schema markup?

Structured data is standardised markup, usually Schema.org JSON-LD, that states your business facts in a format machines read without interpretation: who you are, where you operate, what you sell, who wrote a page and what questions it answers. It is the plumbing behind rich results in search and a significant part of how answer engines decide what is true about your business.

Typical timeline: Typically a short, defined engagement, with monitoring thereafter. Pricing: Foundation in Local Essentials (£149/month), included in Local Growth (£249/month), advanced in Local Dominator (£399/month). Included in every website build.

Problems this solves

  • Search Console reports structured data errors you do not understand.
  • Competitors show ratings, FAQs and rich results and you do not.
  • A plugin added incomplete or duplicated markup years ago.
  • Your business facts are inconsistent between pages.
  • Answer engines describe your business inaccurately.

What you get

  • Audit of existing markup, duplication and validation errors

  • JSON-LD implementation per template: Organization, LocalBusiness, Service, FAQPage, Article, Person, BreadcrumbList
  • sameAs profile linking across directories and social platforms

Process

How we deliver structured data & schema markup

  1. 01

    Audit

Find what exists, what is invalid and what is duplicated.

  2. 02

    Model

Define the entities and relationships the markup must express.

  3. 03

    Implement

Clean JSON-LD applied at template level, not page by page.

  4. 04

    Validate

Test every template and clear Search Console warnings.

  5. 05

    Monitor

Recheck after site changes so markup does not silently break.

Structured Data & Schema Markup FAQs

Does schema markup improve rankings?

Not directly. It makes content eligible for rich results and helps engines understand your business accurately, which affects how and where you are shown — including in AI answers.

Which schema types does a local service business need?

At minimum Organization or LocalBusiness, Service for each offering, BreadcrumbList for navigation, and FAQPage where genuine questions and answers appear on the page.

Can I mark up reviews I have collected myself?

Only where the reviews are genuinely displayed on the page and comply with Google's review snippet policies. Self-serving markup risks a manual action.
